Two Rope Reversing Corset [Level 1]


The simplest version of this is to join to ropes at their center bights, then wrap back and forth front to back reversing them through a bight of each other when they meet, so that one side is all one rope, and the other side all the other rope. With two pairs of joined ropes, you can create 4 color quadrants, but it's crazy hard to tie.

You can use a more elaborate weave when reversing directions to create a supportive stem and a nice pattern. If you don't reverse direction on one side, e.g. by using travelling hitches, then you get alternating bands of color. Here's an example of combining those two variations:
